Candy and Iron


Today is Mike and my 6th anniversary. The traditional gifts are…you guessed it, candy and iron! We celebrated Saturday evening. First, we stopped by Goose’s Acre for a lovely dinner!

Goose’s Acre is an old Irish pub that’s entire interior was shipped to the Woodlands and set back up in the new location. The old wood floor, bar, and decorations are fantastic.

I love the saying here...hits home.

We parked at the parking garage in Town Market Center and walked to the restaurant. It was a little chilly!

While we waited for our food, Mike decided to try what they call the “American Tour” of beer. It consists of 5 4 ounce glasses of different beers made in the US. One is made in Houston (Saint Arnold’s) and one was made in Conroe (Goose Blonde Ale). The others were from California and other states I can’t remember. All together it makes up a little over a normal glass of beer (16 oz is normal).

Mike ordered the Shepherd’s Pie:

I ordered the Angus Burger. I was not going to be concerned with calories that night.

After dinner we ordered a Shiner Bock Ice Cream Brownie Sundae:


After dinner we walked back to The Woodlands Town Market and watched Crazy Heart. The movie theater was so packed we had to sit on the second row. Yes…right AT the screen. It took a while for my eyes to adjust, but once they did it wasn’t too bad. Then we went to Cru, a wine bar, and had a glass of wine with three different cheeses and fruits. After that little pit stop, we looked around Sur La Table at the fun kitchen tools.

We headed back home, since we couldn’t get a baby sitter for the fur children. At home we popped open a bottle of Asti Spumanti. The cork flew all the way across the kitchen and living room to hit the window on the other side! Mike enjoy that quite a bit.

It was a fantastic anniversary celebration. I know you shouldn’t use food to celebrate anything but I think it’s ok as long as it’s not used as a reward and used far and in between. I have no guilt over my meal. However, it’s time to get the sugar out of my system after that yummy brownie!

Today we went for a drive around some back roads. We brought the dogs with us. I think they enjoyed it. They both seem quite tired now!

In other news, the Woodlands Fit starts THIS WEDNESDAY…eeek….I didn’t think it started until June/July so I am not prepared! I have a meeting and registration this wednesday, so I’ll find out more then. They meet twice a week. I can make Saturday mornings no problem, but I’m not sure when they’re going to meet during the week. I don’t know if I can make it if they meet before 7. Then again, I can possibly get Mike to leave a little early on those days, whichever they are.

Ooops, I missed my post yesterday. Good news is, my calories have been spot on the past two days. The bad news is, my “eat clean” lifestyle is struggling a bit. I ate a BBQ sausage sandwich for lunch yesterday. White flour – bad, sausage – bad, BBQ sauce – bad…but I was within my calories. So, I’m not going to feel bad about it. I knew I was going to try to do the eat clean lifestyle slowly, so that’s what I’m doing. I’m not eating nearly the amount of processed food I have in the past. I haven’t binged and eaten a whole cake. So, all in all, I’m happy with how I’ve done.

Sunday is my hubby and my anniversary. 6 years! Woohoo! We’re going to Goose’s Acre for lunch/dinner, then catching a movie, and stopping by the wine bar for a glass of wine. So, I know my calories are going to be poor…but I’m ok with that!

Lunch of the gods…


I brought my chicken and rice yesterday for lunch, but when lunch time rolled around I wasn’t really in the mood for it. I knew I’d be eating it for lunch, so I decided to go to Panera bread with my office mate Christa. Normally I get either the potatoe soup or the cream of chicken and wild rice. Today however, I decided to live on the edge and ordered their black bean soup. OMG…It was extremely tasty!

I bought this new iphone app called “ShakeitPhoto” that takes either an existing picture or a new picture and turns it into a polaroid. I think I’m hooked. It makes everything look really neat…somewhat stylized.

Like my pooch Ruby, AKA Rooster, Blunderbus, Rue, Rubyque, and Little Shit.

Or Codeman’s Saints Jersey…it all looks much more interesting through this program.

Anyway….my eating was pretty good yesterday. I had about a 500 calorie deficit! Yeehaw…I weighed myself today and I was around 222 (222.3 or something like that, can’t remember exactly). So, I guess it wasn’t all the salt’s fault. I need to start getting control over my weekends…next goal.

Hungry Hungry Hippo


I am soooo hungry today. I don’t know why. I ate enough calories yesterday, around 1250, and I wasn’t hungry at all yesterday. So far this morning for breakfast I ate Greek Yogurt, Strawberries, a banana, some cashews, and a clementine. Of course, that’s over a 3-4 hour period. But, it’s 10 and I’m like “come on 11”. That’s when I normally eat my lunch. I know I got my eating habits all out of whack this weekend, and some yesterday. I’ve been trying to eat something every 3 to 4 hours but on the weekends that just goes out the window. I think that my be the reason. *grumble grumble*…it seems my belly is agreeing with me.

Sunday with the Saints


I spent just about all day with friends on Sunday. We watched the Jets/Indianapolis game then watched the Saints/Vikings game. I didn’t have any alcoholic drinks which was good! However, I did eat too much salt which was evident in the scale this morning. I haven’t drunk enough water yet, so I’m working on that. I ate my chicken and rice today for lunch. The chicken was better than my last try! woohoo! I am going to weigh in again in the morning to see if it was indeed salt that caused the large gain on the scale.

Saturday Goodies


My hubby and I went  shopping today at Best Buy to get him a cool pad for his computer. Luckily for me, there’s a Bed, Bath & Beyond right next door. After finishing up at Best Buy we went over to BBB and I was able to get a few items I’ve been needing.

First, I finally got a food scale! Woohoo! No more guessing on weight/portion sizes.

It’s the Biggest Loser scale because it was only $19.99 compared to the others that were $39.99 and $49.99. I think this one will do just fine!

I also got a medieval looking tool, or what’s known as a meat tenderizer! I think you could do more than tenderize meat with this thing. The third side, which you can’t see, is flat for chicken. Sasha (Thanks, Sasha!) suggested that I try flattening out the chicken a little bit before fixing it, so we’re going to give it a try.

Then finally, I found a lovely green stainless steel water bottle…perrrty…

Now, on to more serious matters…Mike and I went to eat at Chuy’s today for lunch. When I got back from the bathroom, the waiter was dropping off a bowl of queso…DOH! I resisted as long as I could, but I decided that I wasn’t going to deprive myself. I allowed myself to have a little bit, but I let Mike eat 3/4’s of it.

I wanted to order he Chica Chica Boom Boom, but there is way too much bad for you stuff involved in that meal. So, I ordered Chicken Fajitas instead.

It was YUMMY! I even ate some of the grilled onions and peppers, which I normally wouldn’t do. I had a bit too much salt today, but other than that I didn’t do too bad.
